One-eyed Kate Kibble was on the black list of Birmingham.
It seems this is getting a bit of a girlpower day. Earlier we brought you the historical tale of pharao Cleopatra VII. And here’s a second post about female drinkers. In England pictures have been revealed after 100 years. On them portraits of women who were banned from Birmingham bars. All the ‘ladies’ on these mugshots were excluded from bars for ‘anti-social behaviour’. That’s right, black lists for pubs already existed in the early 1900’s. But if we tell you that under Edwardian Law it was forbidden to serve known drunks, you understand who’s side we are on here. Our sympathy goes out to the poor women on these pictures, who’s only crime was that they were having some alcohol related fun.
And here they are. Please don’t mind the arrows on the sides. That’s just because we stole these pictures from the website of The Telegraph. If you want to learn more about these women and the black list, here’s the link. The total black list contained 83 persons. 37 of them were women.

yeah so it would seem! the whole history of alcohol in victorian england is really interesting, at one point i think every sixth house was a pub!
