It’s no secret that the consumption of alcoholic beverages has many health benefits. Various scientific studies have already proven that. But now American scientists say that the most consumed alcoholic drink in the world, beer, could be the answer to the most feared disease of modern times; cancer. Researchers of the University of Idaho presented their findings this week at the National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Diego. According to the American scientists hops, a key ingredient of beer, contains acids called humulones and lupulones, which can stop bacterial growth, including the spread of cancer.

The researchers tried to extract these compounds and turn them into drugs which can be used to treat cancer. At this moment they are still trying to do so, and according to spokesman Kristopher Waynant his team actually got very close to success. In collaboration with biologists and medical researchers the search for a beer-inspired cure for cancer and other infammatory diseases continues. Until that time you might just want to go old school and grab a beer from time to time. Just to be safe of course, cheers!

    • Indeed… Finally an interesting study. I just don’t get why they want to make pills to replace something that’s already awesome. There are so many great cancer medicines around. 😀

  1. I didn’t see that coming. I thought the advice for cancer was to shelve all the booze, yes, even beer. Now we just need to know if it applies to just beer, or if Coors, Bud, Miller, and Pabst are included.
