Who doesn’t dream about taking a police patrol boat for a drunken joy ride?

Normally we’re not a big fan of authority and especially the police. After all they are usually the ones who piss on the parade whenever there’s a good party. Not to mention handing out fines for public drunkness. But as it turns out, some cops are also not scared of a little drunken fun. A reserve police officer named Danny Eckhart in the state of Louisiana (USA) got the brilliant idea of taking a patrol boat for a drunken joy ride, before crashing it into a riverside bar. It’s good to know that there are still officers of the law that know the meaning of the word fun. Just too bad his own colleagues arrested Eckhart afterwards.

The incident occured last Saturday in a town called St. Tammany Parish. Eckhart was not on duty and so he did what every normal person does on a Saturday night and hit the booze. Drunk as he was the policeman then stole a patrol boat and headed up the Tchefuncte River. In the town Madisonville things took a bad turn as he crashed his boat into pilings outside a place called the T-Rivers Bar. Even though nobody got hurt in the crash the incident didn’t end well for Eckhart. Not only did he lost his job, he also got charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
